On Tuesday Intel Corp revealed its latest advanced processor that might be its first using artificial intelligence (AI) and is designed for large computing centers.
The chip, developed at its development facility in Haifa, Israel, is named Nervana NNP-I or Springhill and is based on a 10 nanometer Ice Lake processor that may enable it to cope with high workloads using minimal amounts of power, Intel mentioned.
Facebook, it said, already has started using the product.
Intel mentioned its first AI product comes after it had invested in Israeli AI startups, including Habana Labs and NeuroBlade.
Naveen Rao mentioned, To attain a future situation of AI in all places,’ they have to deal with vast quantities of data generated and make sure organizations are geared up with what they should make efficient use of the data and course of them where they’re collected. General supervisor of Intel’s artificial intelligence products group.
“These computers need acceleration for complex AI applications.”
It mentioned the new hardware chip would help Intel Xeon processors in giant corporations as the need for classy computations within the AI subject increases.
